Transience is a body of work created between 2023-2025 on site at the historic former Downsview Airport lands. The commission, from YZD and Northcrest Developments, invited me to become resident photographer and develop a series of photographs exploring the site as it stood at that point in time.
My goal was to document the site in a way that is more fantastical than literal. A way that allows us to see what exists but also imagine the possibilities.
Using multi-exposure and composite techniques, I created series of images that I hope can suspend us in a space between — or even beyond — the past, present and future of the site. In that space, like in memory, everything overlaps and exists at once. Linear time evaporates. There, we can float for a moment and allow our minds to journey to new realities of what might be.
